Ralph Doesn't realize..

The reason why Ralph unintentionally hurts Piggy's feelings is because Ralph really lacks (as a skill) placing himself in other peoples positions. He knows what has to be done in order for them to get saved, he tries to think up new ways that they could be saved, but once it finally comes time for it to happen, it never goes according to plan. That is indeed why Ralph isnt the best possible leader he could be. This is especially shown through Piggy and Ralph's relationship. He doesn't really think that he's hurting Piggy's feelings when he talks about him.

Another reason why Ralph unintentionally hurts his feelings is because he jokes about him when he's with the other boys to get them to like Ralph. Ralph knows that Piggy is weak and vulnerable, so therefore it makes him very fun (and easy) to make fun of. When Ralph and Piggy talk one on one its a lot more serious, and Ralph listens to what Piggy has to say. When it comes time to talk about things and have meetings he views Piggy as a fat child to make fun of. I know it sounds like funny to think of it that way, but like it's pretty much true. He uses Piggy as that little like punch line in any of the meetings.

I guess if you look hard enough, you can find real life examples of this. I mean if you look hard enough in certain classes, certain teachers do the exact same thing that Ralph does. Expose the student's weakness's and laugh about it with the class. I mean like, that would be a very rude thing to do, and the teacher would probably be regarded as a rude person. But im sure it does happen in some classes.
